To help the taxpayers make data entries faster and to reduce errors while creating their Statement of outward supplies in Form GSTR-1, the ‘My Master’ facility has been created on the GST portal. In this option, taxpayers can save details of their recipients and suppliers and the HSN of the commodities they deal in for the following two masters on the portal and in the offline tool:
Now whenever a taxpayer enters data in the related field of GSTR-1 for which the master exists, the Offline tool/portal will fetch the details from the Master and will show the probable values in the drop-down based on the keywords entered. By selecting the dropdown, all the corresponding fields of that row shall be filled up automatically. Taxpayers can also upload the master created offline on the GST common portal as a JSON file to update their online master, and, similarly download the master created online and import it in the offline tool to update their master created offline.
Let's understand how to use the My Master option in GST login.
In Product Master, you can add your products along with HSN, UQC, and GST rates.
To add the product to this option, go to Services>>User Services>>My Masters>>Product Master. Fill in the below details and click Add.
When all the products are added, click the Save button.
In Supplier/ Recipient Master, you can add your regular vendors and buyers. This will help you in filling GSTR 1 data.
To add the supplier or recipient in this option, go to Services>>User Services>>My Masters>>Supplier/ Recipient Master. Fill in the below details and click Add.
When all the parties are added, click the Save button.
Using the “Download my Master” option, you can download the master in Excel or JSON format. For adding bulk data of masters, you can use the option “Upload my masters”.
In conclusion, the "My Masters" option in GST login is a valuable tool designed to streamline data entry and minimize errors in GSTR-1 filings. By using the Product Master and Supplier/Recipient Master, taxpayers can efficiently manage and save the details of their products and regular vendors. This feature allows for quick data retrieval, reducing manual input and enhancing accuracy.
